Brett Hull has his very own Marijuana strain “Brett Hull #16.” It’s available exclusively through Sundro Cannabis at Hippos Marijuana Dispensary in Missouri.
“It’s kind of neat,” said Hull. “How many guys have a marijuana strain named after them!? I’m pretty proud of it. It’s very exciting.”
Hull is an investor in Hippos Marijuana Dispensary, which has stores in Chesterfield, Springfield and Columbia, Missouri.
The NHL Hall of Fame player appeared at the Columbia store on September 24 to help Hippos
celebrate its grand opening by signing autographs and greeting enthusiasts. “It has got anti-inflammatory aspects and arousal aspects,” said Hull. “I started lifting again and I am stiff and sore so I can’t wait for the anti-inflammatory aspects to kick in.”

Although sports medicine has come a long way, there is always room for improvement. The benefits of medical marijuana are less often debated but as an advocate for natural treatment this was a a perfect pairing. The two-time Stanley Cup Champion addressed the stigma that surrounds medical marijuana, THC and CBD by pointing to the research that says it’s a healthier and safer alternative to opiates and pain pills.

,Not only physical side effects but psychological health was discussed as well.
“Military veterans who are having night frights – (medical marijuana) won’t get rid of them but the veterans won’t remember them in the morning. And THAT to me is a wonderful thing. And if there’s one thing that is the most important, it’s our veterans and what they’ve done for us so we can do this. And if we can help them, It’s worth every bit of it.”
Former Blues teammates Kelly Chase and Blues alumnus Barret Jackman join Hull as investors in Hippos Marijuana Dispensary.
While this is a new venture, the Blues veteran is confident in his mission, the impact, and the future that Hippo’s dispensary holds for those looking for natural remedies for pain and discomfort.
“We’re just on the start of learning what this is all about and we’re glad we can be a part of it.”
“We have seen what the opioids have done to people and what they’ve done to families. We have found that marijuana and it’s attributes, helps with pain.”
